Tunisia 2007
A trip full of surprises - chilly weather in the mountains along the Algerian border gave way to heavy rain in Douz, flooding the town. However this meant that we had great sand to drive on and we managed to get all the way (250km !) to Bir Aouine via Tounbaine. The firm sand allowed us to make short work of the 200m dunes and we had great fun driving these roller coaster dunes along the ghazis, before exploring the abandoned Berber villages around Matmata - have a look at the olive press we found
The abandoned Jebel Asker pass remains elusive but we did penetrate the northern entry this year. That leaves about 5 km to connect up in the middle - join us on our next trip and become part of the team that finally conquers this tough mountain route.
